Kirsty
Owner and Lead Instructor
I am a woman who loves to dance but hates to exercise. Being a bit of a late bloomer in the dance world, I began ballet classes in grade 12 (as an alternative to physiotherapy for a joint problem…that should tell you how I feel about working out!) Within a few years I became fully involved in the disciplines of Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Musical Theatre. Over the next several years my repertoire grew to include Modern, Hip Hop and Irish Dance. I spent a wild summer studying dance in Brazil, known for its passionate rhythms and booty-shakin’ and fell in love with the Latin flavoured styles.
My love of dance matched with a strong desire to teach brought me to explore opportunities to grow as an Instructor. A highlight was studying the “Art of Teaching” with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. After several years of working in the dance industry, I took a hiatus with the hopes that one day I would be able to merge my love of dance, my desire to encourage and build esteem in children and my passion for teaching. This dream took a unique twist following the birth of our daughter which brought me into the circle of mothers everywhere: wonderful, extraordinary and sleep-deprived mothers!! Much to my delight, Salsa Babies had paved the glorious Salsa-trod pathway for me in this regard. Seven months after the birth of Charlotte, Snowsellberryhead Productions was born!
